12 Months of Brightbrain Scotland
In 2012 Brightbrain Scotland was born and I would like to share my journey with you in true Christmas style:
JANUARY This was the month that the Bal-A-Vis-X Scotland Training Event was booked/confirmed with Bill Hubert and would be taking place in June 2012, only 6 months away!! An exciting journey lay ahead, with all the marketing/promotion/booking venues etc – and nobody in Scotland had ever heard of it – I certainly had my work cut out!
FEBRUARY 2 months since my first Bal-A-Vis-X training in London via Integrated Brain it was time to meet up with Bill Hubert and his wonderful assistants, Allegra and Jen, this time in Belgium. The second time around training in Bal-A-Vis-X opened up a whole new window, apart from honing the physical techniques, I was more tuned into learning the neuro science, and soaking up all Bill’s knowledge. With only 4 months until Bill’s first ever trip to Scotland, the question of “how many attendees do you have?” arose – on paper 20, in the bank 6…
MARCH Many hours spent meeting potential delegates over coffee & cake – this was the bit I enjoyed. While 18 hours of my day was involved in marketing/promoting this event, my family were beginning to worry about my attachment to the pc; I assured them it would all be worth it…
Meanwhile my students that were working with me using Bal-A-Vis-X were starting to have some incredible results, I knew then that this programme was the way forward for my students, my family and I…
APRIL A few days away to indulge in one of my passions vintage antiquing, this was time out but as like many, when you are running on full throttle and suddenly stop, so does your body… still managed to make some purchases!
Networking groups and our local group of like-minded Borders Therapists (of which I am treasurer), all became active and this provided an excellent platform for promoting my event, with a few raised eyebrows I demonstrated the 3 Ball Bounce standing on the balance board at a breakfast meeting, while describing what I do in 60 seconds – thereafter connections were made, that would provide continued support then and now…
MAY As sponsor for an international event, the attention to detail/co-ordinating transport/ arrivals/catering/welcome packs and all the other little things were starting to fall into place. Money from delegates was arriving in the bank, I started to feel slight relief but the pressure was still huge, as 25 delegates needed to increase to 30, with only 5 weeks to go…
JUNE The strangest things do happen, with 3 weeks to go; I have phone calls from as far away as the Shetland Isles in the North of Scotland (2 music teachers) to Somerset in the South (clinical psychologist), a local school teacher and local dyslexia teacher/lecturer all decide to attend – so guess what? I made it to my 30!!
Bill Hubert, and his team arrived in Scotland mid-June and on Friday 22nd June to Sunday 24th June, Bal-A-Vis-X in Melrose, Scotland took place. Three days of inspirational and outstanding teaching and training was delivered by Bill, Briana and Ashton. It was magical and our event ended with a life changing announcement – Bill Hubert invited Jane & Mike Oliver to be the UK’s first Certified Practitioners in Bal-A-Vis-X and Christopher & Eloise the UK’s first Certified Assistant Instructors – the UK’s first Bal-A-Vis-X family!
JULY Time off to relax – a little, but after such an event there is much to do. Word was beginning to spread and the phone started to ring – my Bal-A-Vis-X student number started to increase.
Thoughts had to turn to a new look website – names/content/web designers? This is where connections come in – Borders Therapies were using cohorts by design, I liked their style and the rest just fell into place.
AUGUST Time for a holiday – we spent a week away and of course took our Bal-A-Vis-X balls with us – because you just never know when you might get the opportunity to show someone what you do. And we did, to quite a lot of people in fact – at an evening entertainment we were given a five minute slot and did our first family Bal-A-Vis-X demonstration, I was so nervous, but Christopher & Eloise were just so cool, that as soon as we went on stage, it flowed just as we had practised.
SEPTEMBER This month took me to Bal-A-Vis-X training in Damme, Germany, with Bill Hubert. A large group of 60 attendees, I was involved in assisting – teachers, Dr’s, psychologists, occupational therapists, physio’s – a wonderful experience.
Dates for the next Scotland Bal-A-Vis-X Training were agreed – 21st to 23rd June 2013, more time to process/plan and prepare!
Late September and family Oliver exhibit Bal-A-Vis-X at the Dyslexia Scotland Education Conference – a great day, with many more connections made.
OCTOBER The final push for Brightbrain Scotland to go live is on; this is where those handy connections come into play again, proof reading and word play from an experienced ex-journalist.
Students with more positive results – an increase in reading age of 3 years, just in time to go onto the website.
NOVEMBER Brightbrain-Scotland goes live.
Bal-A-Vis-X Training London – this is a trip we have been eagerly anticipating – Christopher & Eloise having never been to London before and would like to see it all!!
Three days of wonderful training with Bill Hubert and his 2 assistants, Holly and Abby – this is training number five for me and each time I learn more, Bal-A-Vis-X is forever evolving and each training is unique.
Christopher & Eloise were not disappointed – a day at Harry Potter Studio Tour, the London Eye, the London Underground (many times), Tower Bridge, Ice Skating in Hyde Park, shopping in Hamleys. In their words “when can we go back?…
DECEMBER Bal-A-Vis-X Training Scotland 2013 is now not long away, I hope you will join me.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
